Based near Wrexham and close to the English border, I have been a Chartered Town Planner since 1980 (MRTPI) and have extensive experience of planning in both the public and private sectors, having been involved in a wide range of development projects throughout England, Wales, Ireland and the Isle of Man.

What I Do

Pre-Application Advice and Assistance

  • Preparing planning feasibility studies/appraisals
  • Preparing planning briefs
  • Advising on pre-application enquiries and related matters

Applications for Planning Permission/Other Consent

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, Design and Access/Planning Statements and securing planning permission by negotiation
  • Lodging objections to applications submitted by others
  • Preparing and submitting applications for certificates of lawfulness, consent to display advertisements, listed building consent and so forth

Enforcement

  • Advising on, and responding to, enforcement action via negotiation or appeal

Planning Obligations

  • Putting together draft planning agreements/obligations and related advice on developer contributions and affordable housing requirements

Planning Appeals

  • Lodging or opposing planning and other appeals and presenting evidence either by written representations or as an expert witness at public inquiries and other hearings

Development Plans

  • Monitoring, analysing and evaluating local development plans and documents and advising on appropriate action
  • Making representations on emerging development plans, including participating in examinations-in-public

Compulsory Purchase

  • Advising on compulsory purchase orders, including giving evidence as an expert witness at CPO inquiries

General Planning Advice

  • Updating clients on recent case law, new or emerging planning legislation, government policy guidance and current planning practice.
