Throws Farm Technology Centre
Full planning permission was granted by Uttlesford District Council for the redevelopment of Agrii’s agricultural R&D technology centre and regional hub at Stebbing in Essex, with Philip acting as planning consultant, working alongside Clive Petch Architects.
Agrii is the country’s leading agronomy company, providing independent and innovative advice to arable producers. It has a nationwide network of demonstration farms and more than 300 agronomists who work with their farming customers to help them stay up to date with arable technology, so that they can improve and maximise their yields and grow profitable crops.
The approved development (now completed) involved the demolition of seven buildings that were no longer fit for purpose and their replacement by four buildings accommodating a state of the art conference and meeting centre; purpose-built laboratories and sample preparation facilities; improved storage space for grain, fertiliser and machinery; and new offices for the trials team. It also included a new car park and modified access arrangements.
The application required inputs from other specialists to address impacts on transport, biodiversity, landscape, trees and drainage.
